Rome transport cards & passes
Which pass is worth it and which is a waste of money.
Single tickets
A single BIT ticket costs €1.50 and covers 100 minutes across metro, bus and tram. For most visitors making two or three journeys a day, buying as you go often works out cheaper than a day pass — do the mental maths for your actual usage pattern.
24-hour and 48-hour passes
At €7 (24hr) and €12.50 (48hr), these pay off if you're making four or more separate journeys per day — realistic for visitors covering a lot of ground. Available from machines at metro stations.
Roma Pass
The 48-hour (€32) and 72-hour (€52) Roma Passes include transport plus free or discounted entry to two museums. The maths only works if you were going to pay for those specific museums anyway — check which museums are included in the current version before buying.
