Booking tickets for groups
Group bookings for the Colosseum and Vatican Museums need to be made well in advance through the official channels, which handle groups differently from individual tickets. For groups over 15, dedicated group entry lanes exist at both sites — use them, as they're significantly faster than the standard queues.
Getting around
A large group moves slowly in Rome's crowded streets and on public transport. Budget extra time for every transition — what takes one person 10 minutes takes a group of 12 at least 20. Private minibus transfers are worth the cost for groups of eight or more, particularly for airport transfers and cross-city journeys.
Eating together
Booking a large table at a Roman restaurant requires phoning ahead — don't arrive unannounced with eight people and expect to be seated promptly. Many of the best trattorias have a maximum table size; look for restaurants with outdoor space or a separate dining room for groups.
Accommodation
A rental apartment for a week often works out cheaper than multiple hotel rooms for six or more people, and gives a kitchen for breakfasts and simple meals. The historic centre has limited large apartment stock — book months ahead and use a reputable platform with verified reviews.
