How to tell a real B&B from a mislabelled apartment

The term is used loosely in Rome's listings — a genuine B&B typically has an on-site or nearby host, some form of breakfast service, and a handful of rooms rather than an entire building; if a listing offers no breakfast and no host contact beyond a lockbox code, it's functionally an apartment rental regardless of the label.
