The gardens
A large landscaped park just north of Piazza del Popolo, with a rowable lake, shaded paths, and enough space to genuinely slow down after a few days of sightseeing.
Galleria Borghese
The park's centerpiece museum holds major Bernini and Caravaggio works — entry is timed and capped, so book well before you plan to visit.
With kids
A small zoo-adjacent bioparco, rentable bikes and go-karts, and open lawns make this one of the easiest half-days for families.
Renting a bike or boat
Beyond walking, Villa Borghese rents bicycles (including tandem and multi-seat 'risciò' pedal carriages) by the hour near several entrances, and rowing boats on the small lake near the Temple of Aesculapius — both popular, inexpensive ways to cover the park's considerable size, particularly appealing for families.
Getting oriented
The park is larger and more sprawling than first-time visitors often expect — picking one or two specific destinations (the Galleria, the lake, the Pincio terrace) rather than attempting to 'see the whole park' produces a far less exhausting, more satisfying visit.
